"Cholle (Indian)"


 

Ingredients

  • 1 cup chick peas
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 chopped onions
  • ½ tsp. cumin powder
  • 1 inch grated ginger
  • ½ tsp. coriander seeds
  • ½ tsp. turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp. ground red chili powder
  • 1 med. chopped tomato
  • 1 tsp. Garam Masala powder
  • salt to taste

Steps

  • Soak chick peas overnight , and pressure cook for two whistles or use canned chick peas.
  • Heat a small amount of water to sauté the onions in.
  • Add cumin seeds, ginger, coriander powder, and chili powder.
  • Sauté for a couple of minutes or until brown.
  • Add tomato and cook for another 5 minutes.
  • Add the cooked chick peas, garam masala powder, salt, and cook on low for 10-15 minutes.
  • Garnish with green chilies and green coriander or parsley leaves, sliced onion and sliced limes.
  • Serve with Rotis.
